In this course I have learned a lot about media, and what the message is behind it. Something I find interesting in the media, is the NBA Basketball Finals between Boston Celitics and L.A Lakers. Out of the thirty teams in the NBA the Celtics and the Lakers were the only teams to advance to the finals. The two teams have so far played five games with two more to go. The lakers need two wins to win the championships, Boston needs one more win. I am cheering for Boston to win the championships, because they are the better team. I was cheering for Lakers but I changed my mind.GO CELTICS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Critical Consumerism
Today the world is filled with media. It is everywhere you go, from T.V to Magazines to Advertising products. The youth of today are always seeing money, jewerly, cars, clothes and more, and they are taught to think that it's the only way to be popular or successful. Media is a tool used to store and deliver information to others. When it comes to media, it will always be entertaining. Media will bring us websites, t.v shows, gossip, and many more. The media sells a lot of products but it's up to viewers to know what to believe and what not to believe. The media comes out with something new everyday, from someone's problems, to what someone was wearing. Some consequences to being an uncritical consumer to media is, you will start to belive what you read, and what you read is not always right. Facebook and twitter are good examples of uncritical media they allow you to see into other peoples personal life.
Mass Media: Is the fastest growing media. Media, music, film and television help us understand what's happening in the world. It is also designed to reach a large audience.
Deconstruct: To take apart, analyze, or break down, a media text into its component parts, in order to understand how, and why, it was created.
Media Representation: Representation refers to any medium or aspects of reality such as people, places, objects, events, cultural identities and other concepts.

Journal Post: Flava Flav
I choose the very first journal post reality TV show Flavour of love. I picked this journal out of all the rest because it shows how different reality shows can get based on what the contestants are trying to win. In Flavor of love Flava Flav is in his fiftys and he is still looking for love. The women who make it on to the show are all in their early twenty's to their mid thirty's. Even though it is a love show it comes off as a joke to viewers. The show got a lot of media attention, the media was making jokes of the women. They make it seem like all of the women wanted to fight with each other. They were all "gold diggers", no respect for them-selves, they lacked intelligence, and more.
When it comes to shows that are based on black people there always has to be more drama, violence, faults, bad sides, and degrading of women going on. The show came off as Flava Flav, being an older man, and being able to get any women he wants with his money, and not with his personality.

Movie Review: Death at a Funeral
Death at a Funeral is about a family that comes together for the loss of a father, husband, and uncle. The film tells the story of a family desperately trying to make it through a funeral ceremony while having many distractions in the way. This movie is a very funny film for everyone no matter the age. Its about coming together as a family and letting all the secrets out. The movie had a alot of great actors, from Chris rock playing the main chater Arron, to Martin Lawrence playing Aarons brother, Loretta Divine playing the mother and many more.
In the movie Elaine, played by Zoe Saldana, brought her white fiance played by Oscar James Marsde. Oscar's character is given drugs. Thinking it was pain killers, the drugs made him high and left him acting werid. Zoe's chater is pressered by her family to get rid of her fiance because he is white and they are a black family.

Shoes are something everyone enjoys having. When it comes to shoes you can get them in every style an colour. In this advertisment the product is Skechers shoes, the advertisers used Christina Aguilera to sell the product. This add shows Dismemberment. Christina is sitting down but yet she is still showing off her body by wearing fish net tights and her body language is trying to get attention from the viewer. At the top of the photo there is a advertisment selling Christina's lastest album. The add is trying to sell two different things at once.
When it comes to jewerly, it's a women's best friend, but advertisments today make it seem like if you have to have it or else. This is a Guess advertisment. In the photo you see a woman posing in a doorway wearing a see-through dress showing her bra underneath. While she is in standing in the doorway, she is advertising Guess jewerly. This is Irrelevant Sexualization of Women and Girls. Guess is trying to sell jewerly but they are using sex to help the products even though the add has nothing to do with it. The advertisers are trying to make you think more about the women than the product and how the jewerly will make you feel like that once you put in on.
This year has been a year for ripped skinny jeans, tie dyed pants, and tights ripped or not ripped. The ripped jeans came on hard this year in every style and colour. Also, simple "wife beaters" have also come back in style and they can be worn with any type of clothing. Even though these are great clothes and photos there is still a code behind it. In this advertisment Superiority and Domination is shown. The women are portrayed in poses to get males (or females) attention.
